Burnout is Real (and you are not lazy)
What is Lazy?? Not you, just too much
If you’ve been dragging lately, staring at your client notes like they’re written in ancient hieroglyphics, or fantasizing about switching careers to goat farming… you might not be lazy. You might just be burnt out.
Burnout isn't about doing too little — it’s about carrying too much for too long. And therapists? You’re often carrying everyone else’s stuff on top of your own. It’s no wonder your tank’s empty.
🔹 Signs You Might Be Burnt Out
Dread before every session
Emotional numbness or irritability
Cynicism about your work (or your clients)
Fantasies of escape (yes, even to that goat farm)
Feeling like you’re always behind, no matter how hard you work
Sound familiar?

The good news: burnout isn’t a character flaw. It’s a signal. A signal that something has to shift.
🔹 What Helps?
Take fewer clients (yes, really!)
Reclaim your breaks—don’t spend them doom-scrolling
Offload admin tasks (👋 Practice Yak can help!)
Reconnect with parts of the work that bring you joy
Say no to one thing this week. Just one. (Can you do it???)
Consider consulting with someone—burnout loves to hide in isolation
🔹 Therapists Need Therapists
You already know this. But just in case you need the reminder: you’re not above needing help. Therapy, peer support, supervision—all of it counts.
